ST(R)E(A)M IT/STREAMING GIRLS AND WOMEN INTO STEAM EDUCATION, INNOVATION AND RESEARCH

ST(R)E(A)M IT/STREAMING GIRLS AND WOMEN INTO STEAM EDUCATION, INNOVATION AND RESEARCH

January 2024 – December 2026

ST(R)E(A)M IT/STREAMING GIRLS AND WOMEN INTO STEAM EDUCATION, INNOVATION AND RESEARCH is a European project funded by the program HORIZON WIDERA.

The Association of Business Women in Serbia started the implementation of activities in January 2024. The project will last for 3 years, until December 2026.

The STRE(A)M IT project supports the vision of Europe/European Commission, where women and men, girls and boys, with all their differences, are equal – free to follow their chosen life path and have equal opportunities to progress, and can equally participate and lead our European society. This vision is even more important today, when significant results have been achieved in the field of gender equality education, but there are still persistent national gaps, especially in STEM fields.

The objectives of the ST(R)E(A)M IT project include:

  • identifying gender-based institutional/structural barriers that make it difficult for young girls to enter STEM tertiary education, and to develop their careers (scientific or otherwise) in STEM fields;
  • developing gender-sensitive, inclusive and innovative STE(A)M tools and approaches;
  • supporting the development of skills and business opportunities in STEM for all genders, with a special focus on young girls aged 14-18;
  • professional development of STEM educators;
  • supporting HEI/STEM educational institutions to respond to gender challenges;
  • introduction of sustainable cooperation networks of actors in education and R&I in STEM education at the national/regional and European level;
  • contribution to EU policy goals aimed at increasing gender equality and inclusion in STEM education and R&I;
  • raising awareness of institutional/structural barriers, including gender stereotypes that hinder gender equality and inclusion in STEM education and R&I.
