Special Mention For Promoting The Entrepreneurial Spirit – Linking Women For Association Of Business Women In Serbia

The Association of Business Women in Serbia (ABW), as one of the national candidates, has been granted theSpecial Mention“prize in the category of Promoting the Entrepreneurial Spirit for its project “Linking Women“on the occasion of the 2013 European Enterprise Promotion Awards organised from 24 – 26 November 2013 by the European Commission.

 

The Association of Business Women in Serbia has received this Special Mention for its activities in supporting and devoloping a network of local associations of business women throughout Serbia, as well as promoting an entrepreneurial spirit among women. These activities culminated in the project which we successfully completed in 2013, Women in Progress – Capacity building at the local level for gender economic mainstreaming in Serbia.This project was financed by the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia and the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

The aim of the “European Enterprise Promotion Awards 2013“ is to recognize and reward the most successful activities oriented towards the promotion of entrepreneurship all over Europe. 580 participants from 49 countries attended the conference, including delegation from as far away as India, Lebanon and Brazil. The project of the Association of Business Women in Serbia was suggested by the Serbian Ministry of Economy as one of two national nominees from Serbia.

The success is all the more gratifying given that the category Promoting the Entrepreneurial Spirit had the strongest competition with the largest number of competitors.

The Special Mention was awarded by: Joanna Drake, Deputy EU SME Envoy, Madi Sharma, Member of the European Economic and Social Committee and Evaldas Gustas, Minister of Economy of Lithuania.

In addition to the representatives of the Association of Business Women in Serbia, the Serbian delegation in Vilnius consisted of representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement Serbia (also a nominee for the Awards), Serbian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and Elex Commerce.
