Establishment of the Association of Business Women in Bujanovac

On the occasion of establishment of the Association of Business Women in Bujanovac, an Opening conference was held on 5 November 2013 in the Municipality Bujanovac. The ABW Bujanovac was founded within the project “Women in Progress – Capacity building at the local level for gender economic mainstreaming in Serbia”. Project holder is the Association of Business Women in Serbia, and was institutionally supported by the Municipality Bujanovac – Office for regional economic development.

The project was funded by the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia and the Office for cooperation with Civil society of the Serbian Government within the EU IPA program “Support to Civil society 2011-2013”.

At the opening conference, held at press center of the Municipality Bujanovac, panelists were: Nagip Arifi, Mayor of the Municipality Bujanovac, Olivera Pantovic, project manager at the ABW Serbia, Fazila Azemovic, president of the ABW Bujanovac, Adelina Brucaj Hasani, vice president of the ABW Bujanovac, Ruzica Zdravkovic vice president of the ABW Bujanovac.

The Mayor of the Municipality Bujanovac, Nagip Arifi, stressed that the ABW Bujanovac will always have the support of local authorities on projects.

The President of the ABW Bujanovac, Fazila Azemovic, presented the statistics which, according to her, is not a good reflection when discussing the employment rates in this municipality. She emphasized that the percentage of employed women in the Municipality Bujanovac is 30%, but, when discussing unemployment, the percentage of women is 49%.

Adelina Brucaj Hasani said that this Association has specific goals for women entrepreneurs who have started their small and medium businesses.

“As an Association we will encourage all the women-owners to expand their entrepreneurial businesses with confidence”, said Adelina Brucaj-Hasani.

Olivera Pantovic, complimented all the women engaged in this project, and expressed gratitude to the Mayor of Municipality Bujanovac for his support.

On this occasion was emphasized the need for promotion of businesses regarding women entrepreneurs.

The Project “Women in Progress – Capacity building at the local level for gender economic mainstreaming in Serbia” has the goal to increase the participation of female entrepreneurs in the process of creating the local economy politics in less developed areas of Serbia, through promotion of issues related to entrepreneurship and employment. The focus was on strengthening the cooperation between local organizations for development of female entrepreneurship, located in 6 municipalities: Nis, Kragujevac, Cacak, Valjevo, Novi Pazar and Bujanovac.
