Softhearted Women Entrepreneurs

Individual researches prove that women are better managers, and companies having women on their boards generate higher profits. There are still not many women on managing positions in Serbia, however, in entrepreneurship they have already caught up with Europe.

Sanja Popovic Pantic, President of the Association of Business Women, points out that women are more cautious when taking a risk and more analytical when accepting new chances and opportunities.

“In entrepreneurship, it is sometimes a limiting factor as well. The analysis shows that, for instance, beneficiaries of the SBS Programme of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development fill out in a much more orderly manner the documents necessary for obtaining financial support. When asked in 2009, the majority of members of the Association answered that workers’ lay off was the last thing they would resort to. Women show a great social accountability. In Serbia we have found as many as 50 companies that apply some of the models of corporate social responsibility towards women. For such a small entrepreneurial population it is a significant number, indeed”, says Popovic Pantic.
